Koh Mak in Thailand
A natural, tropical island, Koh Mak, Thailand's preserved “treasure”, is an ideal destination for visitors who enjoy a tranquil environment unspoiled by mass tourism.
Amongst 10,000 palm trees, there’s a temple, three fishing community villages, rubber plantations, two uninhabited beaches, a primary school, a market, a health centre, three diving schools, few shops, two internet café’s, and thirteen small, unassuming resorts.
Koh Mak is the perfect place to relax, explore, calm your mind and soothe your senses.
Koh Mak is perfect for relaxation. Many visitors return every year just to soak up the sun on one of our many beautiful, deserted, white sand beaches. Koh Khaam is almost within swimming distance from Ao Suan Yai beach and at certain times of the year a sand dune virtually links the 2 islands at low tide. These stunningly clear blue waters are perfect for kayaking. Koh Mak's proximity to Koh Kradad, an exceptionally flat island ringed by an unbroken white beach, roamed by herds of wild deer and inhabited by a handful of coconut farmers, allows it to be reached within a 10 minute longtail ride from Ao Nid pier, Green View Resortand Laem Son village. ( Kayaking this distance is not recommended due to a strong sea channel between the 2 islands)
Because Koh Mak is small and flat it's perfect for exploration and a return to nature on one of many jungle walks. Or for the more adventurous there is a 3 hour cycle track through plantations, jungle tracks, villages and coastline paths. After 6pm at Ao Nid pier you'll discover if you observe closely how the friendly local fisherman catch barracuda
